Windows Worth Watching

Retailers duke it out for top display but who gets it right? A good window display should seduce, entertain, invite and intrigue. It should tell a story without compromising the styling and every single detailing should be impeccable.
Window displays are retailer’s silent salesperson. It’s the first impression potential customers have of there product so it’s important to make that impression count. A retailer’s window display tells me what they think of me as a customer. I know it’s not that personal for everyone but it’s fun to be seduced time and time again, even by stores that I frequent and will continue to frequent forever.

This isn’t New York where high end department stores are bountiful, we only have the 1(Holt Renfrew) and because its so easily recognized, people automatically think there windows would be the best. Holts is doing wonderful things with there windows these days but historically and based on consistency, there windows barley cracked the top 5 as recently as 6 months ago. The interesting thing about retailers in this city is, the higher the brand the less they feel they have to draw customer into there stores. Thankfully this past year completely changed that; everyone was left scrabbling for customers and weather your price point was $50 or you catered to who’s who of fashion, nobody was spending so everyone had to rethink ways to get back into your purse.
